About the Project

Confronted with a classic 1940s layout featuring a small, confined kitchen separated from the great room, our primary intervention was the bold removal of the entire twenty-two-foot back wall of the home. This dramatic structural change created one cohesive, light-filled 276-square-foot eat-in kitchen, seamlessly integrating it with the expansive great room and completely redefining the home's flow and scale. The design respects the original architecture while delivering modern livability through soft white Shaker cabinetry, honed soapstone-look quartz, and a central island anchored by striking quartzite and a historic paint color. Finishes like aged brass accents and custom, handmade quilted ceramic tile lend warmth and subtle texture, resulting in a classic, sophisticated space where heritage and contemporary function coexist effortlessly.
